Livia |
Xena: "Keep out of my way."
Ares: "The moment it hit me, I knew. I don't know why I didn't see it before. But, I didn't, I swear."
Xena: "And that's supposed to make it okay?"
Ares: "No. That's supposed to make you see that it wasn't personal."
Xena: "It doesn't get more personal than when you corrupt my daughter the way you did me!"
Ares: "See, that's just my point. It's not the same. Nobody's the same as you, Xena, not for me."
Xena: "Then let me take her away. Ares, the other gods don't need to know."
Ares: "It's not my call. But, the offer … is what it's always been - you and me together, a child, and I take Livia's secret with me to the grave. Otherwise …"
Xena: "You would condemn a woman to death you claim to love."
Ares: "No … but I'd condemn her daughter."
Gabrielle: [sees Virgil writing in a scroll] … "What are you doing?"
Virgil: "Oh … that … its nothing."
Gabrielle: "Are you writing?"
Virgil: "Yes … um … I write, or at lest I try. I'm nowhere near as good as you."
Gabrielle: "You're a bard."
Virgil: "I write poems … epic poems."
Gabrielle: "I had no idea. Why didn't you say so?"
Virgil: "Because Dad doesn't like it. I think he wishes I were more like him - you know, a real hero, instead of writing about one."
Joxer: "Virgil … you are a hero. You're willing to risk your life to fight Livia. You're trying to save all our lives."
Virgil: "Well, that's nothing compared to the stories about what you've done."
Joxer: "Virgil … all the stories I … told you about me being a hero are … uh …"
Gabrielle: "They're inspiring."
Virgil: "I'll say. I mean, that's why I write them down. So everyone who reads them might find the courage to be a hero, too. I did."
Gabrielle: "Runs in the family."
[Livia throws a major temper tantrum and a few vases, some pitchers, a bowl of fruit and anything else she can get her hands on.]
Xena: "I didn't come here to fight. I came to talk."
Livia: "About what? Ares? Well, you can have him … if you live long enough." … [throws a dagger at Xena's head]
Xena: [plucking the flying dagger out of the air] … "It's not about Ares. I want to talk about you."
Livia: "Me? You don't know the first thing about me."
Xena: "But I do. I know your first laugh, your first tears. I know your first breath. I'm your mother. You're my daughter. Your name is Eve."
Livia: "Well, Ares was right about one thing. You're incredible."
Xena: "It's an incredible story. But the bottom line is, Ares knows I'm your mother. You're in grave danger."
Livia: "You're insane! Why would I believe you?" |
Livia: "Livia, Commander of the Legions of Rome, is here as your champion. Announce the match."
Octavius: "…"
Livia: "Would you deny the people their sport? Announce the match!"
Octavius: "The first match will be fought by Livia, Defender of Rome, against the champion of the followers of Eli … Xena."
Xena: "We don't have to do this."
Livia: "I know."
Octavius: "Begin!"
Xena: "Eve, I know you're angry. Give us time."
Livia: "Our time ran out twenty-five years ago."
Xena: "I will never give up on you, Eve! Never!"
Livia: "I'm Livia!"
[Xena and Livia duke it out. Xena, of course, gets the upper hand and puts the pinch on Eve to get her attention.]
Crowd: "Kill her! Kill her!"
Xena: "I'm not going to kill you, Eve. You're my daughter. Whether you know it or not, I love you."
Livia: [gasping] … "Then let … me … die." … [Xena un-pinches her]
Virgil: "Our champion chooses mercy!" |
Livia: "I'll make you wish I'd never been born."
Xena: "No, Eve."
Pesky Eli Followers: "Thank you, Xena! … Bless you, Xena! …"
Xena: [loses sight of Livia in the throng of people] … "Eve? … Eve?!"
Xena: "We've got to go after her, Gabrielle. She'll do something terrible. We've got to save her from herself … and the gods." |
