Gabrielle: "Hold your fire."
Priestess of Artemis: "These woods are consecrated by the goddess Artemis. To trespass is to die."
Gabrielle: "We weren't trespassing. We were on our way to her temple to worship."
Priestess of Artemis: "You're friend looks more in need of a hospice than a temple."
Gabrielle: "Well, that's because …"
Joxer: "We were attacked. We were attacked by a fierce warrior woman with a … baby."
Priestess of Artemis: "Xena?"
Joxer: "Right, Xena, you know?"
Priestess of Artemis: "Where was this?"
Joxer: "Well, if you really want to catch her, you should head west."
Gabrielle: "East."
Joxer: "East, I mean."
Gabrielle: "West."
Joxer: "She was tall."
Gabrielle: "She's everywhere."

We were attacked by a fierce warrior woman with a ... baby
Priestess of Artemis: "Take them back to the temple trail, then spread east. We'll go west."
Gabrielle: "No, wait. We don't need an escort. If you just point the way, I'm sure we can find the trail."
Priestess of Artemis: "Until Xena and her godless child have been destroyed, no one's safe."

Xena: "I'm telling you, Eve, you can't trust any of them - not dreams, not visions, not even premonitions. Nope, none of them mean what you think …"

Ares: "I would rather die in your arms."
"… they're either symbolic or they play on words you only half remember. Sometimes they're quite literal. But, the best thing to do with a dream is just ignore it …"

… Ares probes his tongue into Xena's waiting mouth ...
"… Ah! I think it was Autolycus that said, 'sometimes a dream is just a dream.' It's just a dream …"

… Ares lightly nibbles the soft flesh of Xena's neck …
"… you see, to be looking for hidden meanings in things or secret messages that your gut is trying to send you - well, it's just ludicrous …"

… with each thrust, she's lifted higher, higher …
"… Mmm, that's crazy. Crazy. Alright?"
Eve: "Coo."
Xena: "What would you know, huh? Well, come on, another mile and we can double back."

Joxer: "You're so beautiful, Gabrielle. Did I ever tell you that?"
Gabrielle: "You're very ill, Joxer."
Joxer: "I kinda miss your long hair though, you know. You used to wear it up like a princess, or braid it like a warrior. Or sometimes, you'd have it down and look like an angel."
Gabrielle: "Joxer, I'm not any of those things. I'm just me, alright?"

Gabrielle: "Joxer! Stay awake! Just hang in there."
Joxer: "I'm fine. I'm fine." - falls off Argo

Gabrielle: "Are you alright?"
Joxer: "What happened?"
Gabrielle: "You're burning up. Let's see. Some water for you."
Joxer: "No, that's empty."
Gabrielle: "Mine is, too. Now listen, I'm going to go down to the pond that's a ways back. I'm going to fill up our water bags, okay?"
Joxer: "Okay, I'll go with you."
Gabrielle: "No. No, you're going to stay here."
Joxer: "No, I'll go with you."
Gabrielle: "No! Joxer, rest. Okay, stay here."

And that's how you lay a false trail
Priest of Poseidon: "Just as I thought. Xena and her brat are heading south. Let's go!"

Xena: "And that's how you lay a false trail. It's basic, but you gotta start someplace."

Priest of Apollo: "Alti (no, not that Alti) says they're almost to the trees. Keep moving."

Xena: "Gabrielle? Joxer? They should be here by now. Well, take a look-see, shall we?"

Priest of Poseidon: "What's this? According to the track, Xena's turned north. Well, someone must have been cut after all, huh? They're headed for the Mandrake tree. Move out!"

Xena: (seeing three armies converging on the Mandrake tree in which she is perched) "Ares."
Ares: "You rang."
Xena: "I knew this had your stink all over it."
Ares: "Well, I had to do something to get your attention. You're always walking away."
Xena: "Good reason, I knew all your talk was lies."
Ares: "You're wrong. I'm more than willing to fight beside you, be a father to Eve … and to a child of our own."
Xena: "That's your game. Now that you feel you're checking out, you want a child to carry on your line."
Ares: "I know it's not real immortality, but it's better than nothing. Besides, mortals do it all the time. Why not me?"
Xena: "Because you're a conniving bastard, that's why not you."
Ares: "Only because you never believe me when I'm trying to be sincere."
Xena: "Sincere?"
Ares: "I'm trying, okay? Every god on Mount Olympus is targeting you. Even now, three temple armies are closing in. Now, all I'm asking is that we'll be together, have a child, and I'll make all this go away. I swear."

I'll make all this go away. I swear.
Xena: "You're asking me to give up the future. Well, I won't do that, even if it means sacrificing my life."
Ares: "Even if it means … Joxer's life? … or Gabrielle's? … or Eve's?"
